Mukilteo Yacht Club has invited Milltown Sailing Association to join in the Opening Day of Boating Season Celebration May 1st and 2nd. We are developing a relationship with MYC since they have been renting our clubhouse for their meetings. Half the clubhouse was full of their members interacting with Milltowners at the Beach Party Band night and they invited us to come to their wine and cheese social. It would be great to have our Members participating in the Opening Day of Boating event. This year’s theme is Celebrate the SEAHAWKS. Boats participating in the parade decorate according to the theme and boaters are encouraged to dress up in costume (Seahawk colors and regalia) We have the entire Guest Dock 1 in the south marina reserved and there is plenty of room for boaters from Milltown to join us on the dock. The parade route is from the Everett Marina past the Mukilteo ferry and return to Everett. All decorated boats participating in the parade are eligible for some great prizes. The parade is contingent on favorable weather and winds. :) An overview of the weekend's events: Friday: 6:00 We have an informal potluck on the party barge on the South Guest Dock in front of Anthony's. Everyone is asked to bring something to share. Saturday: 8:30AM we have eye openers on the party barge...Bloody Mary's etc. 10AM is the captains meeting with instructions about the parade 11AM is the Blessing of the Fleet 12 noon Start gathering for the parade 5 PM Awards ceremony – there will be some great prizes for best decorated boats 6PM dinner (between Woodfire and the old south marina office). Mukilteo Yacht Club provides main course...attendees bring a dish to share. If your Last name begins with: A-F bring Salad; G-K Side Dish; L-Z Dessert Sunday: 8AM Breakfast on the Party Barge To plan for this event, MYC would like a count of those of us who will be participating by joining in at the dock for celebration and potluck. Please email back to me If you will be attending any of these events. Since this is the “Round Whidbey” race weekend, there may be some “racing widows” among us. Come on down and party like It’s 2015! If you are planning to decorate your boat and join in the parade, please contact Lynn at MYC to sign up for that at don_lynne@comcast.net or 206-579-9139. Yeah! Summer is on it’s way! Pam Dittrich Cruising Captain, Milltown Sailing Association |
