A big Thanks to Linda and Grant Albert for inviting us to their “private island” and showing us a heck of a good time! Peter Pan was the theme as we entered Neverland and we were handed our welcome bags with the agenda of activities planned. First was the “make-believe-bar-be-cue” on the party barge with a hot dog lunch to welcome the weary travelers who made the 45 minute voy- age by noon on Saturday. We beach combed to find the specialized items needed for the Peter Pan Scavenger Hunt. That night the treasures were laid out at the Potluck to be judged. Our hosts deemed every participant a winner and prizes were distributed to all. The greatest competition was the dress-up relay with each team given a picture of a “very en- thusiastic model” wearing Neverland outfit, then choosing a team model to put on the items from each picture. The team had to dash one-by-one to a tub of clothing and accessories to find the 5 items in their picture and dress the model in the shortest amount of time. This was a highlight of the evening! Many had read the original Pe- ter Pan book and were well versed for the trivia game that followed the potluck. Milltown sailors know how to put on a potluck feast and a great bounty was enjoyed by all. Amazing Barrett Crabtree rowed his dingy from the Everett Marina to Hat Island Marina and earned the Ironman title. Sunday was a beautiful day and several of us walked around the island on the beach at low tide. There was also a Golf tourna- ment. Over 15 boats attended the weekend and all left with great memories of a great time! Cruise Report
Port Ludlow Marina
March 15-18, 2012
We had a great turnout for the March Cruise to Port Ludlow
Marina considering the weather has been less than balmy. No rain, however, in the picturesque
bay that is Port Ludlow.
Saturday we caught a bus to Port Townsend and spent a couple
of hours perusing the shops and had lunch in seaside cafes. That evening, our
potluck feast included everything but corned beef and cabbage this year. We still managed to celebrate St
Patrick’s Day. Around the bonfire we
exchanged stories and shared lots of laughs. Our Cruise Host, Margo and Bruce
made sure we had marshmallows to roast on their “Redneck” roasters converted
from golf clubs.
Darren Davis provided the entertainment with the grounding
of Halcyon at the harbor entrance.
Thanks to a passing fishing boat we haled, he was able to be pulled off
the bottom by attaching the halyard to the fishing boat. It was quite an entertaining event,
caught on tape for all to see.
There is no mercy in front of your friends!
It was a great weekend of camaraderie and sailing. Thanks to those who made the weekend so
much fun: Walt and Linda Drechsler (Lori bird), Darren and Pam Davis (Halcyon),
Bruce and Margo Hayden (Northern Light), Slavek Michalowski (Baba), Mark and
Pam Dittrich (Else), Marc and Peggy Ladd (Thumper) Tony and Moe Sitz (Rose),
Rick and Carolyn Hunter, (Dabob), Scott and Kari Hogan and family, (Sojourn) To see photos of the cruise, go to photos

It’s just around the corner….Milltown first 2012 cruise next weekend! Upcoming cruise to Kingston January 14-15 2012 Okay, Cruisers…Time to dust of your sails and get ready for our January 14-15 Cruise to Kingston. Kingston has those great shelters on the dock for pot lucking and socializing. Our custom at our winter Kingston cruise is to make a Mulligan Stew (a conglomeration of several people's stews in a big pot with red wine added) for Saturday night. After Jan 2nd, call the Port of Kingston to make your reservations and prepay your slip. (360) 297-3545 We have a group reservation for Milltown but each boat must call to get a slip assignment and prepay. As cruise captain for this January cruise, I am asking for your response back to me by email or phone so that we know how many to expect. Here’s what I need: Your boat’s name and length If you will be staying Friday and Saturday or just Saturday night We will need some to bring appetizers, Some to bring stew and Some to bring dessert. We also share a potluck breakfast on Sunday. We are asking cruisers to be Saturday hosts for each of the Cruises. That entails hosting the Saturday Happy hour and Potluck on one cruise. A theme or activity for those who would like to participate in some group fun is also an option but not required. As cruise captains, we will make the reservations with the port and communicate with the club cruisers. All the host does is coordinate Saturday for that individual cruise. Together we will make this a memorable weekend! Pam Dittrich

As the year winds to an end I would like to take this opportunity to wish you a happy holiday season and best wishes for the New Year. The Women’s Boating Seminar that I started 15 years ago will be held on February 18, 2012 and covers several new topics of interest for all levels of experience in both sail and power. Gift certificates are available – details at www.latitudesailingassoc.org. The Perry Design Rendezvous will take place on August 18-20 at Pt. Ludlow. This year’s event was difficult since Bob and Jill Perry’s son Spike passed away in April and had planned on getting married at the event. Perry boat owners came together and were able to help get through the weekend and even have fun. It truly felt like a close knit group and the Perry family appreciated everyone’s support during such a difficult time. On a brighter note Bob Perry has designed the deck for the new Outbound Voyager on Outbound’s proven Carl Schumacher hull. The Voyager will have the same incredible comfort, stowage, tankage and performance that make Outbound owners the envy of every anchorage ...and now with panoramic views from a raised salon. I am excited to be the Outbound representative for the Pacific Northwest, so don’t hesitate to give me a call if you would like to order one for that special Christsmas gift. Last but not least the Seattle Boat Show takes place January 27th through February 5th. Please stop by the Swiftsure Yachts display to say hi. If you need assistance with any of your boating needs let me know. To a joyful present and a well remembered past, Judy Nasmith 206-963-356

Labor Day Weekend to La Conner September 2-5, 2011 It’s time to make your claim on a slip for the Labor Day weekend cruise to the historic, waterfront village of La Conner. Cruise Report
Port Ludlow Marina
March 19-20, 2011
We had a great turnout for the March Cruise to Port Ludlow
Marina considering the weather has been less than balmy. Saturday, however, was marvelous as we
basked in the glow of the sun for the afternoon in the picturesque bay that is
Port Ludlow.
The Port Ludlow Yacht Club extended an invitation to come to
their happy hour at their new clubhouse and we all attended. They were gracious hosts. Our potluck
feast included 4 versions corned beef and cabbage to celebrate St Patrick’s
Day. You just can’t have enough of
that! Around the bonfire our
Cruise Host, Shaun Wurzner, treated us to a rousing Sailors Questionnaire
game. Unfortunately, it was too
dark to read them but Shaun came up with a way to determine a winner to give
the prize of a bottle of Baileys to.
I believe that bottle graced several of our coffee cups the next
morning!
It was a great weekend of camaraderie and great
sailing. Thanks to those who made
the weekend so much fun: Walt and Linda Drechsler (Loribird), Darren and Pam Davis (Halcyon), Shaun Wurzner and Michelle
(Sorcerer), Todd Smith and son (Slapshot),
Andrew and Linda (Izarra), Bruce and Margo Hayden (Northern Light), Slavek
Michalowski (Baba), Mark and Pam Dittrich (Else), Tony and Moe Sitz (Rose)and
our new member, Paul Tuten (Minaret) Here are some photos from the cruise:

Tom: Saw this on a blog and thought everyone would enjoy his approach! by Hugh Elliot (blog)
(With help from Fred Hagedorn US SAILING Olympic Sailing Committee
Chairman 2001 - 2004)
- Don’t hit other boats. Collisions are slow
and arguments are slower.
- Keep out of the way of boats in front of
you.
- Port tack boat usually has to stay out of
the way of everyone else.
- Windward boats must stay away from leeward
boats.
- The inside boat gets to go round the mark
first.
- Don’t hit marks. Doing circles is
slow.
- Don’t hit the committee boat. First, it is
a mark (see Rule 6) and second, it really makes them mad.
- Nothing good ever happens on a
layline.
- The port tack layline is a very ugly
place.
- Control your own destiny: stay out of the
Protest Room. Protest Committees are uncontrollable: with a 100% solid case, you
have a 50% chance of being DSQ
